What do your eyes see as you look about? What do your ears hear as you stay very still? What do you feel on your skin from the caress of the breeze? How does a perfectly ripe peach taste when you bite into it? How do you feel inside when someone that you love triumphs? How special is it to witness the birth of life? How many times would be enough to let someone you love know that you care? How long does it take to let someone get to know you? If you could make any wish at all and have it come true, what would that wish be? What do you love most about yourself? What do you love most about your body? If your spirit could stand in front of your body and its capacities, what words of kindness would you offer to this temple?
The questions above relate to aspects of living and are the setting for you to let Love be made visible. Everything that touches your spirit, mind, and body-through your senses- is a place that benefits from your Love. Your love is everything. The most that can be given to anyone is Love. And there is nothing more valuable than your Love. True richness is only known through the purity of Love.
There is a story about an old wash woman who was present at a gathering to give a special gift, in the form of money, to the Lord. There were many people gathered together in one big room. Everyone had their own envelope and put in their offering. One of the saints was present to reveal who gave the most to the Lord. In the gathering were three wealthy men who had each given a lot of money. Each one of them started boasting, thinking that he had to be the one who would be acknowledged for the amount of money he had given. The saint overheard them and shook his head. “No, not one of you was the one who gave the most. The three wealthy men were astonished. The saint then called out the old woman’s name. There was almost no one present who even knew her by name. Slowly, the old wash women stood up and said, “Yes, my Lord, did you call me? Did I do something wrong?” The saint looked at her and said to her that she had given the most and the Lord was very, very grateful for her kindness. She had only given $1, but that was all the money in the world that she had. Tears started rolling down her face as she said, “I am sorry that I could not have given you more, my Lord.” The saint spoke back and said, “You gave all that you had and that is the most that anyone could ever give. The Lord is so very grateful for you – for YOU are the true gift…”
Very slowly the wealthy men slipped sheepishly into the back area of the room. They had realized how special the old wash woman was and how small they were in comparison. Who has felt as these three wealthy men did? But, better yet, who has wealth of spirit and heart like the old wash woman? Have you ever given a gift anonymously? There are many ways to give. But, actually, giving is way of life. It’s an attitude of interest in serving others – serving Life itself… A real giver is One who feels and knows completeness. From a “complete” Being, there is always something to offer…
They say that there are givers and takers in this world. A giver never takes, but does receive. We receive things because they are offered to us. There is much that is offered to us in life and there really is no need of taking. This is one of the greatest lessons in life. Giving is how we make Love visible… How can you let your Love be made visible today?.. how about right now?
